Boringly Practical!

Does anyone out there do online self-assessment for tax?  If so, which software do you use, the choice is rather bewildering.  Anyone I have asked round here has a husband or accountant (or both) who does it for them so are not a lot of help.  And if anyone can tell me which two boxes to put in the contribution to heat and light from church so it cancels out properly (BUC guideline is confusing!) I'd be very grateful.

  • Hi,
Try tax www.taxcalc.com standard edition £25. Used it for last 5 years. Last year (i guess this year as well) it had special capacity for church ministers which may well apply to you?
    Cheers, Peter

  • I do, although mine is very simple nowadays (doesn't stop HMRC from making a mess of it) so i don't use third party software, but i got quite good at the paper version when i was self employed so happy to help out via email if you want
